Default Traditional, non-wing sprint car racing moved to Fremont Speedway

FREMONT, Ohio – Traditional sprint car racing – non-wing excitement – will return to Fremont Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 1. The race was originally to take place at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio, as part of the eight-race, non-sanctioned, non-wing series, but will now take place at “The Track That Action Built.”

“We simply have too much work to do at Millstream and not enough time to get it done so we’ve moved it to Fremont,” said race promoter Rich Farmer.

Tracks that have participated in the special non-sanctioned series include Eldora Speedway, Gas City Speedway and Waynesfield Motorsports Park.

Prior to the Aug. 1 race at Fremont, the series will race at Eldora Speedway on Saturday, July 31 for a $2,000 to win event and a guaranteed spot in the Second Annual Jack Hewitt Classic to be contested at Waynesfield on Aug. 7. Sunday’s race at “The Track That Action Built,” will pay $2,500 to win and a guaranteed spot in the Hewitt Classic as well.

Thanks to Hoosier Tire, there is a point fund for the series. The Hoosier DT3 right rear tire will be incorporated in all of the series’ events.

The addition of the non-wing race at Fremont will be part of a double-header weekend at the historical speedway. On Saturday, July 31, the winged Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks will compete on Kistler Engines Night, which will also be a Kistler Racing Products FAST (Fremont Attica Sprint Title) Championship series night for the 410 sprints and a FAST night, presented by Kear’s Speed Shop and Cleveland Golf, for the 305 sprints.

On Sunday, joining the non-wing sprint cars will be the dirt trucks combined with the stock cars.

Gates will open both nights at Fremont Speedway at 4 p.m. with racing underway at 7 p.m.
