HEY, you may be right on that !
But, I will say.. in ALL competition, it's about having, or trying to be the BEST.
and those so-called outta box motors, will NEVER replace the guy that wants to be the best, and GO the FASTEST

Exclamation Chad

Well I conesider Chad and Rex both to be My Friends, but I DO NOT think Chad Shipman Killed Midway. Like I stated before, The Year The Road was Closed, and Ted Tried The UMP Thing with The Late Models, is when things started sliding Downhill, " And not just because of UMP, Mainly The Road being Closed ", plus throw in The Fact that Ted was about ready to sell it at that time as well.Chad and his Family was always Great to me, and I still consider Chad to be a Friend.

IMO , I think The only way Midway is going to get back on Track is to go back to Saturday Nights and WORK WITH Skyline, not AGAINST them. Billy Jarrell has a Packed House of Fans and Cars every week, and Pulling People away from there on The Same Night is going to be Very, Very Difficult " I just don't see it happening ".

And I don't see a " Crate Class " as The Answer either. Skyline has 25-35 SLM's every week along with Good Modified Car Counts, Hilltop, Muskingum and Wayne County all have Good SLM and Modified Car Counts as well, so there's No Shortage of SLM's or Modifieds around here.

Everyone makes Mistakes " I've made quite a Few ", and not just in Racing, but in Life, it happens to The Best of us. As far as The Worst Promoter Midway has ever had, that would DEFINATLEY go to Parker Edmiston, NOT CHAD SHIPMAN !!!

Wink Who's Next----

Here's my take on the local level racing at Midway Speedway .

The Season Points Championship has been a down right joke for years and someone needs to address that issue when they take over in the future . In todays world, a trophy is nice but why do I have to pay $30 a piece to come get it at a year ends banquet?

We need a points fund established and get some kind of Sponsorship program going with these Chassis builders, Performance Parts places, Shock specialists, Racing Fuel suppliers, and Racing Tire Companys for some prizes for these drivers to actually race it out for . Give the guys a reason to come to your race track and have something to go after in the Points Chase . Something worth getting a driver to set a goal for himself to try and achieve. Establish a new Championship driven atmosphere and create excitement in the grandstands thru the drivers . If we dont get people involved such as local businesses, and continue to build new relationships in the racing communties , the place becomes stale. I think Unless we ever see this something in place , we will continue to see what were seeing here at Midway Speedway. We need people to be excited about coming here . The same Old -Same old Syndrome cloud was beginning to hang above...
Simple but Smart Marketing and keeping people fully aware of whats happening at all times is a must in the entertainment business...

This is just my opinion and im not trying to offend anyone , just my take on it . We all have views , and this is just one of mine .......

I agree Gibby. From a Late Model standpoint, getting those manufacturer incentives are HUGE, HUGE, HUGE.

Giving out a free shock to the feature winner, free tire to the fastest qualifier using that brand of tires, giving out a free sheet of aluminum to the hard charger of the race, $50 credit to a racing parts store for the B-Main winner, $1000 credit to a chassis builder such as Rocket for the highest finishing Rocket driver in the points.

These things are huge for drivers. It may not seem like a lot on a week-to-week basis but if you're consistently winning something on a weekly basis, then it gives guys incentives to come back.

You all seem to forgit that running on Saturday is running against Muskungham and a load of other tracks. I'd consider Musky a harder track to run against than Skyline.

Midway is is just caught in the middle. Skyline on Friday and Musky on Sat. Not much you can do about that.

This is another reason why tracks struggle. People making negative posts on the internet and the whole world can read it and before people even go to the track if they even go their mind is already made up about the place. Negative posts and comments actually drive people and cars away.
